FUNDRAISING GUIDE

WHERE TO START

What is 24 Hours of Heroes?

24 Hours of Heroes is a community-based fitness event raising funds and awareness to support Alexandra House - a local emergency women’s shelter in Blaine, MN that provides support for those affected by domestic and sexual abuse.

This year’s team event will be hosted on Saturday, June 22, 2024 with the first workout beginning at 8am on Saturday and the last workout beginning at 7am on Sunday, June 23.

Fundraising goal

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support Alexandra House with this year’s event.

We’ll achieve our goal through event registration, sponsorships, an auction, and VERY IMPORTANTLY, your help asking the folks you know to support Alexandra House.

REGISTER!

Before you start fundraising, you’ll want to get organized with a team of 4-8, register for the event, and set up your fundraising account on Givebutter.

HOW TO Start FUNDRAISing

Fundraising can be easy - we’re here to help!

So that you don’t have to start from a blank page, we’ve created a toolkit of resources for you to fundraising. Here’s how to get started…

Make Your Personal Donation

  • No matter the size, friends and family are more likely to support you if you’ve personally given to the cause.

Build Your Team

  • Recruit your workout and fundraising team of 4-8. Use the Givebutter leaderboard to turn it into a fun competition to who can raise the most! You can challenge each other AND challenge other teams.

Spread the Word

  • Share your fundraising campaign with everyone you know! Meet them where they are, whether that’s Social Media, a phone call, posting fliers, or a letter in the mail.

Check out our fundraising tools below for ideas on how to get started!

Fundraising Toolkit

Letter Campaign

Never underestimate the power of a handwritten letter! Check out our samples below to inspire you to send letters/cards to family and friends requesting their support. Just personalize the highlighted text to fit your fundraising goals!

Email Outreach

Emails are a great way to reach the folks you don’t have on social media. The more personal, the better, so be sure to put it in your own words!

Sponsorships & Matching Gifts

Ask your workplace if they offer matching gifts, employee sponsorship, or volunteer time off. Check out our sponsorship opportunities.

Support The Auction

Last year’s inaugural action was a huge success. We’re doing it again with the support of the Givebutter platform.

The items that were the most successful in getting big bids were personal, meaningful, and unique.

Make it something that you can’t just get anywhere; something that you love that you just know others are sleeping on, but will love if they just have that extra kick to try it out!

Offer up your dog-walking services, a batch of those killer brownies you make, or a learn-to-crochet experience. Or, maybe you have a pair of tickets you can offer for your favorite theater, concert, or sporting event.

Have connections to your favorite local businesses? Gift cards or certificates for services and experiences related to health, wellness, cooking, nutrition, and physical activity are sure to be hot items!

More details to come on how to procure and submit items!

Get Creative!

Use your creativity to support your fundraising efforts. The possibilities are endless!

  • Know someone who sells products? Ask them to donate a percentage of their proceeds one day or ask if they’ll provide an item(s) for the silent auction.

  • Ask a local business if they do takeover nights & host one.

  • Host a car wash or lemonade stand in your community.
